"All Black Everything" gets local love from REAL 103.9 Las Vegas

My favorite deejay right now is Paul Velazquez aka Paul V. He beats out DJ Quik, DJ Mike, and Dennis Johnson, former point guard of the Boston Celtics. That’s because ya boy Paul V, On-Air Talent at REAL 103.9 in Las Vegas played “All Black Everything” ON THE RADIO yesterday evening! Whoop! Whoop!

Yes, yes… I know ONE SPIN around 11:30 pm on a Sunday Evening ain’t heavy rotation during “Drive Time”. There’s no telling how few folks actually heard it.. But I’ll take this victory, nevertheless! No matter the outcome, we got the most votes to beat out 10 other competitors to get on the radio. Of course, I didn’t know we won a competition. I din’t know what to think when I heard it. Check out my reaction:

This is something to build on, I’m sure of it. It was worthy enough to play it once. How do we get the to play it again. And again. And again.

That’s what I’ll be trying to figure out the next few days . Derek Stylez out.

Jesto Mathis Merch. coming soon....

Just got back our merch samples from the printer. It’s important to us to check the quality of the garments and to test how long it takes fans to receive product. Here’s a preview of the tee shirt we will selling soon.

It turned out dope in our opinion. Each shirt is soft ringspun 100% cotton. The printing is “in” the shirt, not sitting on top. Nice! But our favorite is the hoodie!

It’s not a cheap thin hoodie. It’s heavy, but it’s hella soft. Anyone who orders one of these will be very satisfied. I think I know what I’ll be rocking all winter long!

"All Black Everything" - why we changed the name of the single...

All Black Everything Explicit Album Art.png

For more than a year: during the writing, recording, mastering, and art stages, we’ve been calling the new Jesto Mathis single “Grace Jones”. No longer. CD Baby, our distributor, shut us down!

I guess it’s too confusing to use ANOTHER music artist in your song titles. Fine. So we have a new song title: “All Black Everything”

“All Black Everything” drops everywhere November 2.

New Jesto Mathis single = "Grace Jones"!

We’ve achieved a ton of success promoting “Getting It Now” the past 3 months on Spotify. We landed on dozens of Spotify user playlists, achieved over 75,000 streams. We have over 1200 followers and nearly 1000 saves. Our efforts also triggered Spotify’s algorithm. Getting It Now continues to be featured on Discover Weekly and Radio. With more people exposed to Jesto’s music than ever before, we felt it was time to drop new music and build on our momentum .

The first follow-up single will be Grace Jones. We been sitting on this song for awhile. It officially drops October 26, twelve days from today.

Grace Jones has a more mellow vibe than “Getting It Now”. We wanted a change-of-pace to let folks know that Jesto isn’t a one trick pony.

Jesto Mathis - "Getting It Now" Music Video released!

Well, it took awhile! But finally, we are releasing the “Getting It Now” music video!

I ended up cutting the music video myself and as we all know, I’m good, but I’m as slow as an editor can get. Took me about a week to line up the audio to the video and do a basic edit. I decided to edit in Black Magic Resolve 15, to avoid round-tripping and to further learn the software. Jesto stopped by the crib, we fine-tuned the edit, shorten and lengthening shots, adding others, etc. He just had a few notes; no big deal. When I got to the Color stage and watched a few video tutorials, , I realized that my skill level compared to an actual colorist was vast.

It’s tough enough being a tiny label. We can’t have bad presentation. So I hired a professional colorist; Mike Bonner from LA. We went back and forth on looks for about a week. This shit is important, gotta spend the time to do it right.

Yesterday a UPS package arrived. Inside was our music video on hard drive. Mike did an excellent job color-grading & color matching RED Dragon, GH5, & Mavic Pro footage, most of which exposure issues and some with baked in looks. He had a brilliant idea of introducing a Sepia tone for the outdoor shots, like the movie Traffic, and we went with it.

Now that the video is on YouTube, we need enough views to get on WorldStar Hip Hop for free. Otherwise I hear the charge is $750. How many views? I don’t know.. probably a mill. I’ll find out tomorrow
